Calculation standard

How ColdMatch Calculators Work

Every ColdMatch calculator follows one four-part standard: the calculation method, a worked example, clear limitations and imperial units. This page defines the standard and lists every calculator that meets it.

1. Calculation method

Every formula is listed step by step, in the order the calculator runs it, with the coefficients it uses. No hidden multipliers.

2. Worked example

A realistic scenario run through the same formulas with the page's default inputs, so anyone can reproduce the result by hand.

3. Limitations

What the model does not cover, where its averages break down, and which calculator or specialist review to use instead.

4. Imperial units

All maths runs in SI (m³, kW, °C). Results and inputs show ft³, BTU/h, TR, °F and US gal so results and quotes never diverge.

Rules every calculator follows

  • • Cost figures come only from the central ColdMatch cost baseline (/cold-storage-cost); calculators never invent their own price ranges.
  • • Prices, tariffs and wages that the buyer types in are labelled as user inputs.
  • • Results are indicative planning figures. A qualified refrigeration engineer and supplier quotation confirm the final design.
  • • Every result can be sent into a quote request so the project team reviews the same numbers the buyer saw.

Standard SI → imperial conversions: 1 m³ = 35.31 ft³ · 1 m² = 10.76 ft² · 1 kW = 3,412 BTU/h = 0.284 TR · 1 t = 2,205 lb · 1 L = 0.264 US gal · °F = °C × 1.8 + 32.
