- How do you size refrigeration for a pharmaceutical cold room?
- Build the load from transmission through the insulated envelope (driven by ambient minus room temperature and panel U-value), product pull-down for the daily intake, door and airlock infiltration, and internal gains from lighting, fans, defrost and people. Divide the 24-hour load by the design running hours, then apply the redundancy factor. For GDP storage the installed capacity is normally the duty times N+1, not the bare duty.
- What temperature is required for pharmaceutical cold storage?
- Most vaccines and biologics are stored at +2 °C to +8 °C. General pharmaceutical stock sits at controlled room temperature, +15 °C to +25 °C. Frozen product is typically −20 °C, and mRNA vaccines, cell and gene therapies and many clinical samples require −70 °C to −80 °C. The applicable band comes from the product's marketing authorisation, not from a generic standard.
- How much does a pharmaceutical cold room cost?
