Supermarket refrigeration: buyer questions
- How much does supermarket refrigeration cost per store?
- A transcritical CO₂ pack with cabinets and back-of-store rooms typically lands around USD 3,200 per kW of installed duty, so a 400–1,500 m² supermarket commonly falls in the USD 180,000–450,000 range depending on cabinet metres, doors and controls scope. Low-charge propane integrals and HFO DX packs sit lower per kW but change the store's energy and maintenance profile.
- Is transcritical CO₂ suitable for hot climates?
- Yes, with parallel compression, ejectors or adiabatic gas coolers. Above roughly 32 °C ambient a plain transcritical pack loses efficiency, so hot-climate rollouts should price the enhanced configuration — the calculator includes it as a separate platform option.
- Do doors on multideck cabinets pay back?
- Doored chilled multidecks draw roughly half the duty of open cases (about 0.42 kW/m versus 0.85 kW/m), which usually pays back in 2–4 years on energy alone and reduces installed pack size, lowering CAPEX at the same time.
- Can ColdMatch quote a multi-store rollout?
- ColdMatch Group structures the rollout scope — store formats, cabinet metres, platform, controls and service level — into one comparable RFQ and routes it to suppliers with retail references. We do not manufacture equipment or provide financing directly.
