Step 1 — Define the application

Step 2 — Define the technical requirement

Next, fix the numbers that suppliers cannot invent for you: storage temperature and tolerance; room size or required capacity in pallets, tonnes or m³; daily throughput; product entering temperature; design ambient temperature and humidity at the site; insulation specification; internal humidity requirement; door usage pattern; available electrical supply and grid stability; and the redundancy philosophy.

    Step 5 — Identify relevant manufacturers

    Project parameters narrow the field. Duty band and temperature class exclude suppliers whose product range does not reach; refrigerant policy excludes those without ammonia or CO₂ capability; country and logistics exclude those without a route to market or service presence; application experience separates a supplier who has delivered twenty packhouses from one who has read about them.

    Step 6 — Compare proposals properly

    Many refrigeration projects fail on everything except the refrigeration.
