What panel thickness for a freezer room?

For –18 to –25 °C use 150–200 mm PIR; for deep-freeze –28 to –30 °C or hot climates use 200 mm. Chilled rooms typically 80–120 mm.

PU or PIR?

PIR is the default for cold storage — same thermal conductivity as PU (~0.022 W/m·K) but far better fire class (B-s2,d0) and self-extinguishing behaviour. PU is cheaper but rarely accepted by insurers for large stores.

What fire rating do insurers require?

Most European and GCC insurers now require B-s2,d0 core and EI 30 to EI 60 wall assemblies. FM Global 4880 approval is the benchmark for large distribution centres.
