How do I choose an industrial chiller?
Start from process cooling load, required supply temperature and glycol concentration, then decide air-cooled versus water-cooled based on climate, water availability and efficiency targets. Compressor technology (screw, scroll, centrifugal), refrigerant policy, part-load profile and redundancy determine the final selection. Ambient design temperature has a large effect on capacity and must be stated in the enquiry.
What affects chiller energy consumption?
Condensing temperature and condenser condition, compressor part-load efficiency and VSD control, chilled-water supply temperature and ΔT, pump energy, fouling, control strategy and sequencing of multiple units. Raising chilled-water temperature where the process allows measurably reduces plant energy, though actual savings must be verified per site rather than assumed.
