Free Cold Storage Calculators — Size, Load, Cost & RFP in 6 Languages

ColdMatch's free multilingual calculators size cold rooms, cooling capacity, refrigeration load, electricity cost, compressors and financing — and turn every result into a supplier-ready RFP in one click.

Sourcing a cold room, blast freezer or full refrigerated warehouse still starts the same way for most buyers: a rough sketch on paper, a WhatsApp voice note to a broker, and a wait of two to three weeks for numbers that don't line up. ColdMatch built a suite of six free calculators to close that gap — every tool works in six languages, requires no sign-up, and turns your inputs into a structured RFP that vetted refrigeration suppliers can quote against in under 24 hours.

The six calculators — and what each one solves

Every calculator on ColdMatch is engineered for real cold-chain projects, not marketing demos. Numbers reflect ASHRAE, IIR and standard refrigeration engineering conventions. All results are indicative — the point is to arrive at a defensible starting spec that shortens the sourcing loop.

### 1. Cold Room Size Calculator

Translates daily throughput (tons/day), storage days and product density into cold-room volume (m³), floor area and pallet capacity. Handles chilled and frozen, meat, seafood, dairy, fruit, vegetables, pharma and general cargo profiles. Use it before you brief an EPC contractor or lease industrial space. Open the calculator.

### 2. Cooling Capacity Calculator

Converts heat load into required refrigeration capacity in kW, BTU/hr and tons of refrigeration (TR). Applies the standard safety and cycling factors used by industrial refrigeration OEMs. Ideal for engineers scoping compressors, chillers and packaged units. Open the calculator.

### 3. Refrigeration Load Calculator

The most detailed of the six: a full heat-load breakdown across transmission (envelope U-values), product pull-down, air infiltration, lighting, motors and personnel gains. This is the calculation a refrigeration consultant would bill €2,000–€6,000 for. Open the calculator.

### 4. Electricity Cost Calculator

Models annual electricity spend for a cold-storage facility from kW connected load, running hours and local €/kWh tariff — with an optional demand-charge component. Used by CFOs and asset managers to size energy budgets and compare sites across countries. Open the calculator.

### 5. Compressor Sizing Calculator

Recommends compressor capacity and reciprocating vs. screw architecture from evaporating/condensing temperatures and refrigerant choice (R-448A, R-449A, NH₃, CO₂). Cross-checks against typical volumetric efficiencies. Open the calculator.

### 6. Financing Calculator

Estimates monthly leasing payments, total interest and total cost of ownership across 3–7 year terms for equipment finance, project finance and ECA-backed structures. Feeds directly into our project financing intake for qualifying deals. Open the calculator.

Every calculator, every language

The calculators are fully translated and independently indexed in **English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Arabic** — six languages that together cover most of the addressable cold-chain buyer market from West Africa through the GCC, LATAM and the EU.

That is not a UI switch. Each language version is a separate URL (`/tools/...` in English, `/es/tools/...`, `/pt/tools/...`, `/fr/tools/...`, `/de/tools/...`, `/ar/tools/...` in the other five) with its own translated title, description, FAQ schema, `og:locale` and full `hreflang` alternate cluster pointing at every sibling. That is what makes them discoverable in Google España, Google Brasil, Google.fr, Google.de and Google الإمارات — not just Google.com.

How the SEO is engineered

Every calculator page emits the tags search engines and AI assistants actually reward:

  • **Localized `<title>` and meta description** in the target language, with the primary keyword up front ("Calculadora de cámara frigorífica", "Kühlraum-Rechner", "حاسبة غرفة تبريد").
  • **`SoftwareApplication` JSON-LD** declaring the tool as a free-to-use `BusinessApplication` with ColdMatch Group as the provider — so it can appear as a rich result and be surfaced by AI search engines.
  • **`FAQPage` JSON-LD** with the five most-asked questions per calculator, per language. That is what drives the "People also ask" boxes and ChatGPT/Perplexity answer citations.
  • **`BreadcrumbList` JSON-LD** (Home → Calculators → This tool), localized per language.
  • **Full `hreflang` cluster + `x-default`** so Google serves the Arabic version to a UAE buyer and the Portuguese version to a Brazilian one — no accidental cannibalization.
  • **Localized `og:locale`, Twitter Card, keywords** and a strict `robots` policy that permits large image and snippet previews.
  • This is a deliberate answer to how buyers actually search in 2026: they type "cold room size calculator UAE" into Google, they ask ChatGPT "how big a freezer do I need for 10 tons of meat per day", they paste an image of a warehouse into Gemini. Structured data is what lets a tool page win in all three surfaces.

Free, no sign-up, no gated PDF

Every calculator is free. There is no email wall, no "unlock full results" upsell, no sign-up, no watermark. You type inputs, you get numbers, you leave. That is the deal. ColdMatch monetizes only when a buyer chooses to convert an estimate into an actual sourcing request — and even then, the buyer pays nothing.

This matters for two reasons. First, a gated calculator is a broken calculator: buyers bounce, competitors win the query, and the AI assistants that would otherwise cite your tool skip it. Second, the pool of qualified projects that flows into ColdMatch's supplier network is larger and more honest when the tool is genuinely free — no one is filling in fake numbers to get past a form.

From calculator to RFP in one click

Every calculator now ships with an integrated **One-Click Contact** block at the bottom of the page. It is not a generic "contact us" form. It is a purpose-built RFP intake that:

  • Pre-fills the **project category** based on which calculator you used (cold room, blast freezer, refrigerated warehouse, turnkey project, etc.).
  • Attaches the **calculator name and full page URL** to the lead so the sourcing team sees exactly what you sized before they call you.
  • Captures the **user's language, device and time zone** so we route the request to a native-language advisor in the right region.
  • Feeds directly into ColdMatch's **AI-assisted lead scoring** (urgency, tier, estimated project value) and matches your requirement against our vetted supplier network in more than 60 countries.
  • Practically, that means a buyer in Dakar can open the Cold Room Size Calculator in French at 22:00 local time, size a 400 m² banana ripening room, click one button, and wake up to three comparable quotes in their inbox — with a French-speaking ColdMatch advisor on WhatsApp before lunch. That is what an RFP is supposed to feel like.

Why this beats the traditional RFP process

The old way — download an RFP template, fill 12 pages of specs, email it to five suppliers you found via Google, chase them for three weeks — is broken for cold-chain buyers under a €5M project value. It is too slow for the deal, too heavy for the buyer, and too generic for suppliers to prioritize.

The calculator-driven RFP replaces that entire loop. The buyer's numbers are already engineered (not guessed). The category and language are already routed. The suppliers on the other end are already vetted and have already told ColdMatch which project sizes, geographies and refrigerants they actually quote against. Median time from click to first supplier response is under 24 hours.

Who should use which calculator first

  • **Facility owner planning a new cold store** → start with the Cold Room Size Calculator, then run the Refrigeration Load Calculator and the Electricity Cost Calculator for the OpEx line in your model.
  • **Consulting engineer scoping equipment** → jump to the Cooling Capacity Calculator and Compressor Sizing Calculator.
  • **CFO or asset manager evaluating a portfolio** → the Electricity Cost Calculator and Financing Calculator are the two that answer board questions.
  • **Exporter or 3PL comparing countries** → run the same calculator in two languages side by side; the outputs are identical, and it forces every stakeholder onto the same number.
  • Try them now

Every tool lives at /tools. Pick a calculator, run your numbers, hit **Send my details** — and let ColdMatch turn one click into comparable, verified supplier quotes.
