Cold Storage Project Knowledge Hub
Neutral, buyer-side reference for industrial cold-storage projects — organized by decision, not by supplier. Every cluster links to the calculators, guides and RFQ pathway you actually need next.
Mega cold chain projects (EPC & DFI-ready)
Bankable industrial project blueprints for governments, EPCs, developers and investors — engineering, CAPEX, equipment, power, ECA/DFI financing and ROI.
Cold room & cold-storage design
Sizing, layout, temperature zoning and building-envelope basics for new and expansion projects.
Refrigerant selection
Choose between NH₃, CO₂, HFC and HC refrigerants based on regulation, safety and lifecycle cost.
Energy efficiency
Reduce kWh/pallet through system architecture, controls, defrost strategy and heat recovery.
Cooling capacity & heat load
Estimate refrigeration load from product, transmission, infiltration and internal gains.
Insulation & panels
PIR, PUR and mineral-wool panel selection, thickness, fire rating and vapor-barrier detailing.
Compressors, condensers & evaporators
Screw, reciprocating and scroll compressors; air- vs water-cooled condensing; evaporator sizing.
Temperature requirements by product
Storage and processing setpoints for seafood, meat, poultry, dairy, produce and pharma.
Retrofit & modernization
Replace R22/HFC plant, upgrade controls, add heat recovery, extend life without full rebuild.
Project cost & financing
CAPEX benchmarks, payback modelling and financing paths (leasing, ECA-backed loans, grants).
Frequently asked
Where do I start if I've never built a cold store before?
Start with the Project Planning Guide, then use the Cold Room Size Calculator and Cooling Capacity Calculator. Once you have preliminary numbers, download the Project Planning Checklist and submit an RFQ.
Do you sell refrigeration equipment?
No. ColdMatch Group is a neutral procurement platform. We help you compare qualified suppliers, estimate cost and structure financing — we are not a manufacturer or distributor.
Which refrigerant should I choose?
It depends on capacity, regulation and safety. Above ~300 kW, NH₃ or CO₂ typically wins on lifecycle cost. Below that, HFC/HFO blends or hydrocarbons may be simpler. See the Refrigerant Selection cluster above.
