Indian grapes to Vietnam: cold-chain readiness checklist

APEDA's circular of 13 May 2026 says Vietnam granted market access for fresh Indian grapes from 6 May 2026, under a systems approach and in-transit cold treatment at a pulp temperature of 1.1 °C for 15 consecutive days. The detailed Phytosanitary Import Requirement attached to the circular was not reviewed here, so registration, probe, documentation and packaging rules remain open. That makes the reefer part of the treatment: plan pre-cooling, storage and monitoring around it.

Regulatory status checked 25 October 2026 against the APEDA circular and announcements page. Re-check APEDA and Vietnam's Plant Protection Department before each season.

ColdMatch is a buyer-side procurement platform of Global B2B Group for refrigeration and cold-chain equipment and facilities. It does not buy, sell or export grapes, operate or book transport, certify treatments or hold contracts on this lane. Managed sourcing serves projects from USD 250,000 and is free for buyers.

Treatment requirement in the APEDA circular

The grape pulp, not the air or setpoint, must stay at the treatment temperature for the full period.

What to plan before the season

With treatment in transit, the reefer is the treatment chamber. Grapes should reach treatment temperature before loading rather than cool down in the container, so pre-cooling and cold storage at the packhouse decide whether the 15-day treatment can start on time. Obtain the attached Phytosanitary Import Requirement first: it may add registration, probe and document rules that change the equipment list.

  • Read the PIR before specifying rooms, reefers or loggers
  • Size pre-cooling for the harvest peak and document pulp temperatures at loading
  • Agree treatment-capable reefers and data download with the shipping line

Where ColdMatch fits

ColdMatch turns this checklist into one comparable project brief for packhouse pre-cooling, cold storage and monitoring equipment, contacts suitable suppliers on the buyer's behalf and presents organised responses. It does not trade grapes, arrange treatments or guarantee market access. Buyers of the grapes themselves can use Global B2B Group.
