Temperature pull-down time calculator
Estimate the minimum time to cool a product load to its target temperature from the energy balance. Real cooling is slower because heat must travel from the product core to the air.
Formula and limits
t = (m·cp + mpack·cppack) · (Tin − Ttarget) ÷ (3600 · Qnet). This is a lower bound: product size, packaging, airflow, stacking and the shrinking temperature difference during cooling all lengthen real pull-down. Use measured cooling trials or a specialist forced-air cooling design for critical produce.
First-pass planning estimate using steady-state formulas and the inputs you enter. It is not an engineering design, certification or supplier quotation; a qualified refrigeration engineer must confirm the design basis. Example inputs are placeholders, not benchmarks.
