Industrial refrigeration
Industrial refrigeration covers the cooling plants behind cold storage warehouses, food processing lines, blast freezing tunnels, pharmaceutical storage and process cooling. Unlike commercial refrigeration, every system is engineered to order: capacity in kW, refrigerant (ammonia, CO₂, glycol or synthetic blends), temperature class and redundancy all depend on the product, the throughput and the site.
Because each system is specified individually, catalogue prices cannot be compared. The purchase is a procurement project — and the quality of the specification determines the quality of the proposals.
RFQ — request for quotation
An RFQ (request for quotation) turns a refrigeration project into comparable proposals. A good RFQ states the same assumptions to every supplier: cooling capacity, evaporating and condensing temperatures, refrigerant constraints, installation scope, commissioning, spare parts, warranty and delivery times.
When everyone answers the same specification, proposals can be evaluated line by line. Otherwise, the lowest price is usually the proposal with the most scope missing.
Procurement management
Procurement management is the process that connects the specification to the contract: qualifying suppliers, issuing the RFQ, clarifying questions, normalising proposals into a comparison matrix and negotiating scope, warranty and payment terms.
ColdMatch supports this process on the buyer's side: every request is reviewed by a person, the project brief is prepared before any supplier search, and introductions to qualified suppliers are made one by one, for projects from USD 250K. Estimates are indicative planning figures only.
- 01
Define the scope
Product, temperatures, volume and site define the cooling load.
- 02
Issue a comparable RFQ
The same assumptions to every qualified supplier.
- 03
Manage the decision
Comparison matrix, clarifications and negotiation before contract.
