Cold storage & refrigeration RFQ — Nigeria
In Nigeria the power design decides the project. Send capacity, product and site, and ColdMatch builds the brief around realistic running hours, standby generation and landed equipment cost before suppliers are researched.
Reference project figures — Nigeria
Modelled with the same audited engineering assumptions as the ColdMatch cold storage calculator: design climate for Nigeria and an indicative industrial tariff of USD 0.15/kWh. Refrigeration duty is thermal kW, energy is annual kWh at a 0.55 load factor, and CAPEX is the installed volume-based cost (envelope, plant, evaporators, installation, controls and electrical work) — it is not scaled from the duty figure.
| Reference project | Refrigeration duty | Annual energy | Energy cost / yr | Installed CAPEX | USD / m³ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chilled room 400 m³ (+2 to +8 °C) | 9 kW | 13 MWh | USD 1,980 | USD 175,000 | USD 438 |
| Frozen store 1,500 m³ (−18 to −25 °C) | 71.3 kW | 183 MWh | USD 27,450 | USD 656,250 | USD 438 |
| Blast freezer 600 m³ (−35 to −40 °C) | 71.3 kW | 151 MWh | USD 22,624 | USD 495,000 | USD 825 |
Indicative planning bands only — not an engineering design, tariff quotation or supplier offer. Your own capacity, product, site and power situation move these numbers; send the RFQ below and a specialist works them through by hand.

Short form — the details you already have are enough. A specialist reviews every brief by hand and replies by email. Nothing is shared with manufacturers before that review.
What changes the price in Nigeria
- State the delivery port — Apapa, Tin Can or Onne — plus inland haulage; clearing and FX terms move the landed price materially.
- Grid availability is the design input: specify generator hours, diesel price and any PV-battery hybrid so running cost can be compared.
- Ambient design of 33–37 °C with high humidity changes condenser selection, door protection and defrost strategy.
- Fish, poultry, tomato and dairy each need a different pull-down and air-flow specification — name the stored product.
- FX exposure on imported plant should be stated in the RFQ so bids arrive on comparable currency terms.
You submit one RFQ. Our team handles the supplier outreach.
There is no direct buyer-to-supplier connection. Your request comes to the ColdMatch team, which contacts suitable suppliers and manufacturers on your behalf. Supplier and manufacturer information on this site is for research only; it is not a contact directory and does not mean a supplier has been vetted.
- You build your project and submit an RFQ.
- The ColdMatch team validates and organizes the requirements.
- We contact suitable suppliers and manufacturers for you.
- We present their organized responses to you through ColdMatch.

Nigeria cold chain RFQ — questions buyers ask
What does a cold room cost in Nigeria?
As a planning range, a 200–1,000 m³ chilled room is typically USD 190–330 per m³ installed and a frozen room USD 270–450 per m³, before civil works, racking and standby power. Freight, clearing and FX handling usually add 15–25% on imported equipment.
How is unreliable grid power handled in the specification?
As a scoped line item, not an extra: expected grid hours, generator sizing and fuel price, optional PV-battery hybrid, and the control philosophy for switchover. Comparable bids must all price the same power basis, otherwise the cheapest plant is often the most expensive to run.
What happens after I send the RFQ for a Nigeria project?
A ColdMatch specialist reads the brief by hand, checks the design basis — capacity, temperature bands, site location, power situation, timeline and budget — and comes back by email with the open questions. Only after that review do we research suppliers. Nothing is sent to a manufacturer automatically and ColdMatch is not an open marketplace.
Can ColdMatch finance a cold storage project in Nigeria?
No. ColdMatch Group does not lend and does not give financial advice. Qualified projects can be introduced to independent financing partners — equipment leasing, ECA-backed supplier credit on imported refrigeration and DFI or blended structures. Every approval decision rests with the lender.
What project size does ColdMatch work on?
Commercial and industrial projects from roughly USD 250,000 upwards: cold storage warehouses, blast freezers and IQF tunnels, ammonia and CO₂ plants, ice plants, GDP pharma stores and turnkey EPC builds. Smaller enquiries are still answered, but supplier research is prioritised above that threshold.
