Is your cold storage RFQ ready for suppliers?
Built for consultants, engineers and procurement teams: score the brief across the eleven data points refrigeration suppliers need, see what is missing, and estimate the delay each gap adds.
Use the planning calculators first; an RFQ now returns unusable price ranges.
- • Budget band is agreed with the client
- • Site is secured or shortlisted with dimensions
- • Grid power availability and backup are confirmed
- • Layout drawings or a sketch exist
- • Required operational date is fixed
Score 65 or higher? Send the brief to our sourcing team and receive comparable quotes from pre-screened suppliers.

A cold storage RFQ is quote-ready when eleven data points are documented: temperature bands per room, capacity in tonnes or pallets, product and throughput, site dimensions, available grid power and backup, layout drawings, agreed budget band, required operational date, supply-versus-installed scope, compliance and refrigerant constraints, and the decision maker. Briefs scoring 85 or higher are priced directly by suppliers; each missing item typically adds one clarification round of roughly 3–5 working days and makes quotes non-comparable.
Frequently asked questions
What information do refrigeration suppliers need to quote?
Temperature per room, stored capacity, product and daily intake, site dimensions and clear height, available power and backup, required operational date, scope boundary (supply only or installed) and any compliance or refrigerant constraints.
Why do cold storage quotes come back so different?
Because the scope was not fixed. When installation, civil works, doors, racking or controls are left open, each supplier assumes a different package, so headline prices cannot be compared like for like.
What RFQ readiness score should I reach before issuing?
65 is workable with one clarification round; 85 or higher means suppliers can price directly. Below 40 the project is still at concept stage and planning calculators give a more useful answer than an RFQ.
Can consultants use this score with their own clients?
Yes. Consultants commonly run the score in a client meeting to justify the data-gathering step, then submit the completed brief through ColdMatch while keeping the client relationship.
